Spooky/Scary

It’s Halloween weekend again! Yey!

This year's pumpkin theme is Star Trek

So this year I am once again going to Dave and Christie’s annual Halloween soiree. Patrick is coming with. That is tonight (Friday night) and tomorrow we are going to a little underground show called Sneaky Nietzsche. I’m actually not quite sure what happens at the show, but I suppose that is the appeal. It has something to do with live music and dance and painted faces.

And on Sunday I am staying at P’s to avoid any kind of interruption by children. Children with grabby hands expecting things.

Last weekend Jamie and I went to Lake Tahoe. It was the first time I had been and unfortunately it rained the whole time. Usually I enjoy staying in bed on rainy days and just watching movies but I was getting pretty restless during this trip. It was probably because I have never been to Tahoe before and wanted to explore. The weather wasn’t really permitting any exploring though. Jamie and I did get massages that weekend and I did get to use the sauna. W000t. I also got a pair of moccasins so I guess the trip wasn’t SO bad. We both agreed to return when the weather is nicer.

Jamie bought a new beanie in Tahoe

Oh yeaahhh…

So I went camping and Laughlin in the past two weeks. Here are some pictures from those shenanigans:

Dave and Steph are well seasoned campers and brought all the necessary equipment. In fact, all I brought was s sleeping bag and a tent, they provided everything else. Well I did bring food and a strawberry rhubarb pie for Darren who wimped out at the last minute. That guyyyy.

The following weekend (last weekend) was Sarah and Johnny’s bachelorette/bachelor weekend in Laughlin, NV. Girls and guys drove up separately and stayed in separate rooms (of course, how non scandalous!) Here is the photo evidence of that trip:

London Trip, Google Books, Universal Health Care

Quick and to the point update!

A health care bill was passed this weekend and was signed by President Barack Obama into law. There are a lot of things to work on and a long time before it’s going to work well but HOLY SHIT THIS IS, as VP Biden said, A BIG FUCKING DEAL.

One part of the health care bill that I particularly enjoy is that restaurants will now be required to print calorie counts on their menus. Pretty cool.

In related news, I don’t know what the fuck is up with elected officials nowadays. Republicans are being really offensive IN the House. I feel like the past 8 years democrats have been politely complaining, and certainly not calling for Bush’s assassination. I don’t get where these people get the idea that they can act like this. When did become acceptable behavior for people who are supposed to represent America? Could we take a step back and look at these people are doing? I wonder if governments of other first world countries act like this in legislative houses. I wonder if Canadians or the English are like this.

I guess I’ll get to find out later this year… ’cause I’m planning a trip to London! Woooooooo! Yeah so I’m finally in a place where I’m financially stable enough to save up money to go on a trip like this. I’ve gotten pretty excited looking at vacation packages and what not. I think I want to stay for a whole week. Eee! I also just found my passport tonight and luckily it doesn’t expire until next May so I don’t have to worry about paying for a renewal. Huzzah! In the meantime I have trips to SF and Seattle booked. I’ll also be going to Laughlin in August and Oregon in September for Sarah’s wedding.

Finally, I just discovered Google Books! Look how cool it is!

My New Bright Idea #1: Go To Ireland

Warning: brainless post.

So I was thinking about my dating patterns, as I do often, and I picked up on a pattern that I hadn’t really noticed before. I realized that a lot of the guys I seem to be attracted to are of Irish decent. I mean, they have other things in common aside from this, like the type of work they do and their hobbies. Also, I don’t like to believe that there is a “type” for me when it comes to appearances. Looking back though, I suppose the pattern has always been there but it’s never been as obvious as it has been recently, meaning, the past 3 or 4 years.

Well, I figure Ireland must be a pot of gold, so to speak, when it comes to men I find attractive. So… I’ll go to Ireland! Why not? I’ve never been there before. I like to travel. I apparently have a thing for Irish guys. Plus, I’ll have an “exotic” American accent working for me. (side note: there’s a particular scene in Love Actually that comes to mind when I say this)That should go over well, right?

Anyway, I looked up the Ireland tourism website today and it looks pretty boring. I mean, everything I can do there I could pretty much do here in California. So really I think if I did go, I would just want to hang out in pubs with Irish guys watching football and not understanding a word. I imagine I would still be in (if not some suburb right outside of) Swoontown.

This concludes the first installation of the My New Bright Idea segment of the blog. These ideas, they’re unpredictable and usually insane, so stay tuned for more.

Lovers Weekend: Recap

This weekend was rad and I am pooped.

recap complete with random pictures taken over the weekend.

Friday
I left work and headed to LAX, thought I was going to miss the plane but made it there with some time to spare. Jamie, and I, flew into SFO, checked into our hotel and then headed directly to Sparky’s for a late night dinner with JP.

Saturday
The lady and I made our way to The Embarcadero as we had a date with my aunt, uncle and cousin in San Anselmo. Bought tickets for a Sausalito Ferry ride and wandered around the farmers market at the ferry building for awhile.
